Terrorism not Terrorist

My parents have enrolled themselves for a Silk Road tour, but the 2 commotions that happened around that region within this month worried us. The 2 immediate concerns that come to mind are :

1. Will it happen again anytime soon? Of course no one can foretell like the Minority Report, else, it wouldn't even had a chance to happen at all.

2. What kinda precaution does the travel agency has in place.

We contacted the travel agencies for advice, out of the 5 contacted, 4 assured that everything is fine. They also mentioned that there is nothing to worry about since the bombing took place 700km away from the attractions that they will be visiting, therefore the tour is still on. Only one agency cancelled the tour, with the reason that they do not have sufficient head count to form the tour.

One of the questions raised to the travel agent was on the subject of compensation. Should a commotion happened during the trip that caused cancellation of sight visits, early return or extra stay in the country, what are the terms and conditions that we need to take note. One of the travel agents answered this,"That's why you all were told to buy travel insurance".

Based on my knowledge, majority of insurance policies will not cover riot, commotion, not to mention the acts of terrorism. To my surprise, the travel agent says this,"No no no.. you people get it all wrong. Insurance does not cover 'terrorist', but 'terrorism'!"

She added,"That's why we shouldn't be part of the terrorist, as long as you do not participate in it, the insurance company will cover you!".

Hahaha.. I do not know if i should thank her for her advice.

Was wondering if i should sum this up saying - the moral of the story is, do not participate in the act of terrorism, else you won't be covered by insurance.

Sarawak Laksa @ The Origin

I had Sarawak Laksa this morning. it's not too bad. For the price of RM3.50, it's really not too bad.

We had dinner at this restaurant that claims to have 200 selections of food. The interior is cozy and clean, but surprisingly no crowd on a weekend.

We picked our choice from the 200 in the menu, and we turn out getting the following.

Can anyone tell the difference between the two?

Hahaha.. If you can't differentiate them, it's not your problem, we can't either, so we asked the waiter, he says "One with pepper (above) , the other with vinegar (below).

Oh, I see.. so that make them 2 dishes, no wonder they have 200! So 'creative'!

"Lei Cha" - Hakka Food

Today we have "Lei Cha" for brunch. There was once i came across a new stall selling Lei Cha near my workplace, one of my colleagues asked me what was that and i told her it is Hakka food. She exclaimed,"I'm Hakka and i'd love to try".

She ordered without second though, after trying it, she says she will never eat it again.. Well, the one near my workplace is actually quite bad and tasteless, the stall closed down a month later, proven CMI (Cannot Make It). However i believe the reason she does not like it is because it's too green and the soup is bitter. I'd have to say I love it despite not a Hakka.

Black Out & Huge Jam

This was how i was welcomed by my hometown yesterday..

First, the delayed flight. Then, the black out.

We were getting ready for dinner and there was a sudden black out. As we drove along the road we realised that it affect not only a small residential area but almost the whole town.

Due to the power failure, all the traffic lights were not functioning, causing a huge jam. We were stuck in the jam and the building surrounding us started to dissappear into the dark, very soon nothing was visible except the car lights.

Have you watched "The mist"? Ya.. something quite similar just different settings.

When we were finally out of the jam and decided to turn back home for instant noodle, we spotted this eatery that serves 'candle light' dinner. We quickily pull over and ordered anything that's ready to be served. It was so 'romantic' that we can't quite see what we were eating, you just have to taste it out using your tougue. Hope no special ingredient were added.

On our way back home, one traffic police was seen on duty at the junction, but without proper attire and equipment, I'm just worrying about his safety as we couldn't really see him. Anyway one is better than none, they don't seems to be quite prepared for this. Come to think about it, quite worrying right?

This morning the paper says the black out affects the whole city and quite a number of small towns at the outskirt.. There are also two cases of fire incident and the rescue wasn't quite smooth as the fire engine were delayed by the huge jam. Reason for all the above were still unknown. Citizen were still in the dark of the cause.
