Americans elected Democrat
Barack Obama (aka Barack Hussein Obama, Jr) as their first black president, in a transformational election which will reshape US politics and reposition the United States on the world stage. He is currently the Junior U.S. Senator from Illinois. He is expected to take office as the 44th President of the U.S. on Inauguration Day, January 20, 2009.
